Writer's Retreat

The Writer's Retreat is an idyllic refuge for romantics, lovers of nostalgia or those looking for creative inspiration. Situated in the Pool House grounds, this cosy hideaway offers a more private space but with all the comforts of a serviced guest room. Whether you are an artist, an author or are simply looking for a relaxing weekend break surrounded by sea and rugged mountain landscapes, this quirky combo of retro living spaces is bound to appeal. There is a delightful boathouse for sleeping in, complete with traditional king-size Scottish box bed, cathedral ceiling, woodburning stove and mood-lighting. The comfy sofa is the perfect spot to watch the sunset over the sea or watch otters and seals swim past. The bathroom has underfloor heating, a huge bath for two plus a separate double shower cubicle. As a concession to modern living, the television has Sky Entertainment Plus and includes Sky movies.

Next door is a gorgeous, cosy shepherd hut. The perfect place to relax and indulge your artistic talents. Whether you like to sketch, paint, draw or write the next best-selling novel, you will find plenty of inspiration inside and outside the hut. There is a small fridge to keep your wine chilled and a kettle for brewing up a cuppa. The windows overlook the fast flowing river just a few feet away, or open the stable door for views across the bay and to the hills beyond.

Outside there is a small grassed area with patio, seating and a table to make the most of the view and a hot tub to luxuriate in; with perhaps a glass of "bubbly"!

In the morning it is just short stroll to the main house through the garden for your "full Scottish". Dinner is also available on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays ONLY with an advance booking. The four course set menu is £48. Please give us at least seven days notice if you have any dietary requirements.

A minimum two night stay is required. Please note that the Writer's Retreat is closed on Mondays throughout the season.

Breakfast and accommodation is £275 per night for 2 nights or £250 per night for 3+ nights. A £100 non-refundable deposit is required to book.
