Writer's Retreat

The Writer's Retreat is an idyllic refuge for romantics, lovers of nostalgia or those looking for creative inspiration. Situated in the Pool House grounds, this cosy hideaway offers a more private space but with all the comforts of a serviced guest room. Whether you are an artist, an author or are simply looking for a relaxing weekend break surrounded by sea and rugged mountain landscapes, this quirky combo of retro living spaces is bound to appeal. There is a delightful boathouse for sleeping in, complete with traditional king-size Scottish box bed, cathedral ceiling, woodburning stove and mood-lighting. The comfy sofa is the perfect spot to watch the sunset over the sea or watch otters and seals swim past. The bathroom has underfloor heating, a huge bath for two plus a separate double shower cubicle. As a concession to modern living, the television has Sky Entertainment Plus and includes Sky movies.

Next door is a gorgeous, cosy shepherd hut. The perfect place to rustle up a picnic before heading off into the hills (a hamper is provided). There is a small fridge to keep your wine chilled, a kettle for brewing up a cuppa, even a hob to heat some soup for your flask. The table and benches are perfect for reading, writing, drawing or enjoying a light snack. The windows overlook the fast flowing river just a few feet away.

Outside there is a small private garden area with patio, seating and a table to make the most of the view and a hot tub to luxuriate in; with perhaps a glass of "bubbly"!

In the morning it is just short stroll to the main house through the garden for your "full Scottish", or if you prefer, the fridge can be stocked with goodies for a continental style breakfast to be enjoyed whenever you wish. Dinner is also available with an advance booking. The daily changing four course set menu is £48. Please give us at least seven days notice if you have any dietary requirements.

A minimum two night stay is required. Please note that the Writer's Retreat is closed on Mondays throughout the season.

Breakfast and accommodation is £275 per night for 2 nights or £250 per night for 3+ nights. A £100 deposit is required to book.
